Access to safe drinking water
Nicaragua is belongs to some of the poorest countries in the world. The public help in the country is not a strong factor. Accordingly the rural areas are the worst off and have low living standards. One of the biggest problems is the access to clean water. With a population of 6 million almost half , 2.8 million dont have adequate sanitation. This includes clean drinking water. Around 300 children die every year of diarrhea from dirty drinking water. In many rural areas 80% of the people dont have access to safe drinking water. They often take water from lakes and rivers or streams. These often contain reamains from mining, natural disasters and agricultural activities.
